What’s Trending? HR Technology
We’re taking a look back at Gartner’s Top HR Focus Areas for 2025 [link] from one year ago and featuring some of the top trends we’re seeing today. For our clients, HR Technology is top-of-mind.

The intersection of HR, tech and business outcomes is a sweet spot for us, so it wasn’t a surprise last year when Gartner reported that more than half of the HR departments they surveyed said their current technologies weren’t meeting their needs and they weren’t able to measure the ROI of their investments.

In 2025 we’ve seen an uptick in HR orgs seeking our help with optimizing their existing software and selecting new software technologies that can support digital transformation with a measurable ROI.

AI is the disruptor. From using generative AI to craft job descriptions and employee communications to the emerging use of chat bots and other agentic AI applications, HR departments are now embracing the opportunities AI offers to streamline operations at every level.

But with AI, as with all HR technology, the biggest challenge is how to make it all work together seamlessly and deliver great returns on the investment. We’ve helped a lot of our clients learn the language of business – because when HR can speak ROI, tech investments get green lights.

The rapid proliferation of AI is one reason we became a Phenom partner, building on our extensive HR technology expertise and incorporating the best of what AI can offer for HR departments.
