Gartner has updated their annual list of Top HR Focus Areas for 2026, so we thought this would be a good time to look back at their Top HR Focus Areas for 2025 to see how the trends have played out.

Strategic workforce planning is was a top concern then – and it has become even more urgent as market and technology disrupters shift both workforce needs and the available talent pool.

We’ve seen workforce planning gradually morph from headcount-based planning toward a more measurable approach where HR decisions show greater alignment with overall business goals.
